There are many people who believe that the more healthy way of eating certain foods is raw. This is only true for some foods, but there are studies that show that other foods are more beneficial when prepared in the kitchen. Once cooked some foods will provide you with many more benefits and will help you to have good health.
6 Foods you should not eat raw
1 – Eggplant
This food has a compound called solanine, which inhibits calcium absorption causing gastrointestinal and neurological problems. It can produce symptoms such as vomiting, dizziness, headache, and diarrhea. If you’ve eaten eggplant raw, and notice any of these symptoms, go and see your doctor immediately. Cooking the eggplant neutralizes the solanine.
2 – Potatoes
Raw potatoes have a high concentration of a toxin called solanine. In addition, the raw starch can cause digestive problems, gas and bloating. To get many more benefits from the potato, cook it!
3 – Tomatoes
The body can absorb more lycopene when the tomato is cooked, so eating it cooked will be more beneficial to fight cancer.
4 – Cruciferous vegetables
Foods such as broccoli, cauliflower or cabbage can be eaten raw but some people experience gas and bloating because of certain sugars they contain that are quite difficult to digest. However, these sugars are much easier to digest when the vegetables are cooked. People with thyroid problems should also avoid eating these vegetables raw as they are inhibitors of thyroid function.
5 – Mushrooms
When they are raw contain traces of carcinogenic compounds. Known as hydrazine and portobe and are removed when exposed to heat so cooking them should eliminate any risk. Also, eating mushroom can decrease the risk of breast cancer by 60%.
6 – Red beans
These legumes have a lot of nutrients but you must cook them. Its consumption can cause vomiting, diarrhea, and intense nausea by the natural lectin. To destroy this toxin soak it in water for 5 hours, drain the water and put them to boil in fresh water for 30 minutes.
