3 Symptoms of diabetes and how to treat them
1 – Hearing Problems
We tend to internalize that the cause of our hearing problems is aging. However, diabetes can also affect the hearing and be the reason you continually have to increase the volume of your tv.
A study conducted by the National Institute of Health revealed that hearing loss can be caused by prediabetes. When the levels of sugar in the blood are higher than normal, are associated with a 30% more likely chance of suffering deterioration in hearing. The researchers believe the blood vessels and the nerves of the ear are damaged by diabetes.
2 – Changes in the skin
Our skin ages as we get older and it is with this that we associate wrinkles and crow’s feet over time. However, skin problems like dark spots, especially when they appear on the back of the neck, the elbows or the knuckles are a sign of having the levels of sugar in the blood that is too high.
The changes are due to a condition called acanthosis nigrican, and most of the times they are a consequence of diabetes. High levels of sugar in the blood are linked with the development of the cells of the skin and melanin, thus certain parts of the skin become more pigmented.
3 – Constant itching
If you notice that there are certain parts of your body that itch constantly, it’s probably a symptom that you suffer from diabetes. Diabetes affects blood circulation, which causes dry skin and itching. If moisturizers do not help to relieve the itching, you will have to go to the doctor.
