In all the world, only 10% of the population is left-handed. It has always been thought that being left-handed is a big disadvantage but we were wrong. It is true that there are drawbacks such as that the hand tends to smudge pencil to write but not all are disadvantages. In fact, it has some surprising benefits that we probably never would have imagined.
10 Amazing benefits of being left-handed
1 – Earn more money
In a study published in Laterality, it was discovered that the left-handers earned a bit more money than the righties who were working on the same thing.
2 – Learn to be ambidextrous
The world is geared for right-handed shooters. Buttons of shirts, the desks at school, zippers and even some activities are more simple if you change your hand. This makes you learn to be ambidextrous. Every day there are more products for left-handed, but knowing how to use the two hands is a great skill.
3 – The challenges will make you stronger
Although it has many good things, it can be difficult to live in a right-handed world. But this should not be an obstacle, but a challenge that you’ll become a stronger person. You like to be different and stand out.
4 – There have been several left-handed presidents of the United States
There have been a total of eight left-handed presidents including Herbert Hoover, Gerard Ford, James A. Garfield, Harry S. Truman, Ronald Reagan, George HW Bush, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama.
5 – Right-handed family members are a lot like a lefty
Although I always tend to draw a line between left-handed and right-handed, this is not so simple. The right-handed family of left-handed people showed brain scans that are very similar to the left-handed when presented with a language task whereas the right-handed without any family left-handers responded differently.
6 – Are the best leaders
Left-handed people think with the right hemisphere of the brain, are more analytical, creative, verbal, and have better language skills.
7 – It enables the lefty to standout
Although at the beginning all the lefties think it will be a disadvantage, the truth is that it is a characteristic that distinguishes them from the rest. Tend to be more creative and engage with what they like. The only disadvantage here is the side of the hand-stained by the pen.
8 – Is a good topic of conversation
People usually notice that the person in front of them are left-handed and this becomes a great topic of conversation. This is something beneficial since, in general, left-handed people are quite introverted.
9 – Are more creative and innovative
The left-handed tend to find more innovative solutions to certain problems and develop a solution that the brain of a right-handed might put out of the question for being too radical. It is good to have in the society people who think outside of what is “normal”.
10 – It is very likely that you have lefties in your family tree
There are factors such as genetics, probability, and the environment that determine if a person is left-handed. Previously, it was thought that it was a single gene but recent studies suggest that there are about 40 genes so that a single gene would have a weak effect, but together play an important role in the reference manual.
If you look at your family tree, parents that are left-handed can have right-handed children though there is a greater likelihood of the children being left-handed.
Now that you know all of these benefits perhaps be happy to be left-handed and think that all is not as bad as it is often painted. In the end, the stains of the pen can be removed from the hand, right?
