Court trials seem to be serious issues and drama, with lawyers, with suits that adjudicate important cases before the courts. However, it is not always so. There are cases that are really ridiculous that they have obstructed justice systems around the world.

The 10 most ridiculous  court cases in the world:

1 – Nike as a weapon

The inmate Sirgiorgio Sanford Clardy stated that Nike should have warned him that his Air Jordans were a dangerous weapon. After being sentenced to 100 years in prison for wounding a man, filed a lawsuit to change the responsibility of his attack on Nike for allegedly not warning about the dangers of the shoes.

2 – A Halloween too scary

Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights haunted house is known worldwide. In 1998, Cleanthi Peters, was not ready for the shock that she received, claiming that she had been attacked by a maniac armed with a chainsaw. She filed a lawsuit against them for emotional and physical damages caused by one of their haunted houses, that she had attended with her 10-year-old granddaughter.

3 – Joke on the radio

In 2000, Catherine McGowan called a radio station to participate in a contest that offered a new Renault Clio as a prize, without knowing that it was a toy model. When she found out she sued and got the DJ who had organized the prank fired.

4 – Smelly feet

In 1999, a Dutch student Teunis Tenbrook was thrown out of the Erasmus University due to the odor of his feet. The guy filed a lawsuit against the university, and after a 10 years trial, the judge ruled that the university had to reinstate the student and learn to deal with the problem of his smelly feet.

5 – False weather forecast

All of us have experienced seeing on the weather forecast in the morning that we are in for a sunny day, and then it rains. Most people don’t give it too much importance and continue with their day. However, an Israeli woman decided to file a lawsuit against a tv meteorologist.

The plaintiff had dressed lightly, but because of the rain, she contracted the flu, missed four days of work and spent $38 on medication. As compensation, she sued the weatherman for $1,000 dollars because of the added stress; and the television channel had to pay her.

6 – A job too boring

Frederic Desnard filed a lawsuit against her ex-boss for the levels of boredom of her work. She believed that the company had put her aside after losing a major contract. After seven months of illness and health problems such as epilepsy and ulcers, she was fired. The case is still open.

7 – Victoria’s Secret

In 2008, Macrida Patterson, an employee of the Department of Transportation of Los Angeles, filed a lawsuit against Victoria’s Secret after suffering damage to an eye when the rim of a mental fastener broke and damaged her cornea. She asked for compensation of at least $25,000 for lost wages, medical expenses, and damages.

8 – To defy the laws of physics

In 2005, Christopher Roller sued magician David Copperfield for $50 million. Roller was convinced that he had Godly powers, and the acts of several magicians led him to believe honestly that they were stealing his powers and using them improperly to perform magic.

After the dismissal of his complaint, Roller applied for a patent for the exclusive rights on the use of godly powers on Earth.

9 – The warmth of the coffee in the McDonald

In 1992, Stella LiebecK ordered a coffee in a window of a McDonald’s drive-thru. Se placed the cup between her legs to pour in the sugar when everything fell into her lap. She suffered third-degree burns on the inner part of her thighs and was hospitalized for eight days to undergo skin grafting procedures.

Her attorney requested compensation of $20,000 to cover medical expenses and although at first, the company rejected the offer, demonstrating that there had been more cases and that they were aware of the temperature of their coffee, they gave a compensation of $160,000.

10 – Theft of sperm

In 1998, a man filed a lawsuit against his ex-girlfriend for using his sperm without his consent. According to his account, she had given him her word that she was on the pill but deliberately stopped taking it to have a baby. The ex-girlfriend decided to have it, but the man won the case and did not have to pay child support.
