Another factor that disrupts our sleep is the fact of being exposed to light from the screens of mobile phones, computers, tablets, and televisions until the wee hours of the night. This, combined with how early we get up to start our day of work, cause us to sleep less than 6 hours a day.
Not resting sufficiently causes us to feel tired, cranky, and crave high calories foods to have enough energy to perform our daily tasks. This is one of the reasons why there is such a high rate of obesity in the present day.
On the other hand, the lack of sleep can also cause hypertension, metabolic diseases, heart attacks and even dementia.
As you can see, getting enough sleep is essential for us to be healthy and have energy, however, not everyone needs to sleep the same hours. The hours of sleep that we need to depend greatly on our age.
