Today, social media are bombarding us with images of people who are plastic, airbrushed and filtered in such a way that they lose all essential emotions and feelings, the human connections that shine through the image and into our hearts.
Meet Stephanie and Arryn, a young couple from Texas. They are not models, but friends of the photographer, Bria Terry, Wolf & Rose Photography. Stephanie decided to respond to a call from the couple to participate in a photo session and, as you can see, the results are impressive.
The photo session climbed the Facebook page of Wolf & Rose Photography, which is practically the normal protocol, but this time the photos became viral. What is it about these pictures in particular that have caused such a stir?
The love, the chemistry, the confidence and the beauty of the images are there for all to see, generating unexpectedly wonderful responses from users. “This makes me very happy and gives me hope as a plus size woman that not all men are concerned about your size” is only an example of the body positive message photo shoot, breaking the stereotype of social expectations.
Stephanie has taken advantage of the opportunity to convey her message of body positivity to the millions of people who struggle with unrealistic expectations driven by both social media and other means of communication, which leads to problems of self-esteem.
“I remember being in high school and looking at myself in the mirror, wondering why my tummy was not as it should be,” she told HuffPost.
“Over the years, I’ve come to accept that I’ll always be considered plus-size. Forced Me to leave my comfort zone wearing clothing that I like, but that is not in the mold of the society of what is acceptable for larger women, such as blouses, tight-fitting shirts, short dresses, and shorts. I function with head held high, smiling and showing no shame”.
The photo session gave her a great opportunity to express herself and you will love the result. “Honestly, I’ve never felt more attractive,” was her reaction to seeing the album for the first time. “I was shocked. I am in love and secure. Every person should be able to see themselves this way. It is really revealing”.
It is fair to say that Stephanie and Arryn are planning to marry in early 2019, so we sent them a greeting and good luck!
