It is reported that Anna Wintour is leaving Vogue. What? The Artistic Director of Vogue magazine is set to leave Conde Nas and Vogue. Oh, Dear!
A large number of surprised sources told Pagesix that Wintour – the high priestess of the publishing industry and fashion since becoming editor-in-chief of Vogue in 1988 – will abandon her omnipotent role in the publishing house this summer, after the wedding of her daughter Bee Schaffer in July, with Francesco Carrozini, the son of the former editor of Italian Vogue, Franca Sozzani.
But Condé Nast denies this strongly, they deny that Wintour is leaving. A spokesman for the publishing house told Pagesix on Monday: “We emphatically deny these rumors,” but refused to comment specifically on Wintour’s plans. They have not said who might replace Wintour.
The news comes as Condé Nast’s struggle in the midst of a great change in the publishing industry. Under the supervision of Anna Wintour as artistic director, Condé closed the print edition of Teen Vogue, Self, and Details magazine, and has struggled to compete online. They have closed the website Style.com. Sources told The Post that the company is about $100 million in the red. Ouch!
But they say that maybe Anna is looking for a more important position in fashion as being the head of the British Fashion Council, which would explain her appearance alongside Queen Elizabeth II on the front row of London Fashion Week in February.
Some in the fashion industry see it as something unimaginable – Vogue without Anna Wintour… Oh, really? What’s the worst that can happen, see Kim Kardashian on the cover of Vogue? Oh, wait!
Anyways, it may be that the story takes a twist, like in the last 15 minutes of the Devil Wears Prada, right? LOL!
