Destiny’s Child, Michelle Williams announced yesterday that she was admitted to a mental health facility for depression.
The singer, 37-year-old, is receiving treatment at a center in the outskirts of Los Angeles, and has been there for several days, reported TMZ.
In an interview with “The Talk” last fall, Michelle spoke about depression and revealed that she even had suicidal thoughts.
“I did not know what was happening until I was well into my thirties. I just thought they were adolescent problrems,” she said. “I’ve been suffering since I was between 13 and 15 years. At that age, I didn’t know what to call it.”
The member of Destiny’s received the support of Beyonce’s mother, Tina Knowles Lawson, who said she was very proud of her and supports her. Solange Knowles also sent her messages of support and affection.
Other celebrity friends such as rapper Missy Elliot and Jussie Smollett have expressed their love and support.
Williams performed with Destiny’s Child during Beyonce’s set at the Coachella Festival in March.
Her fiance, with whom the singer got engaged this spring, Chad Johnson shared his love and support for Michelle, writing:
“I’m so proud of your courage and commitment in this!!!!! We are in this together and in this INCREDIBLE journey to see THE master artist paint a work of art without a price!”
Well, good for her that she sought help, I remember years ago when no one talked about depression or mental health… Good Luck!
