Francia Raisa revealed that Selena Gomez had serious complications after a kidney transplant last summer, and almost died.
Raisa – the donor of the kidney and best friend of Selena spoke to W magazine and featured as was the recovery after the transplant.
Both girls were in operations for three hours, and both had complications.
“The recovery was very difficult. I didn’t want to eat. Nor wanted to drink anything. Selena had complication, too,” said 29 years old Raisa in a interview published this Thursday, march 8th.
“A couple of hours after our surgery, I woke up and got a message from her that said ‘I’m so scared’. My kidney was very active, and when it changed she broke an artery. They had to take her to an emergency surgery, and take a vein from her leg to build a new artery to keep my kidney in place. (Selena) could have died.”
The actress of Grown-ish explained that both girls wanted to keep the news of the transplant secret of how difficult the recovery had been for them.
“We went through a depression at that time,” she admitted, saying that she left Selena to decide when to make it public.
“It was never anything personal from me before that. I’ve dated a few famous people, and no one knows because I am very private. I was like, you Had to be famous?”
The singer of “Bad Roll” announced the news of his kidney transplant on Instagram in September, sharing a photo of her with Raisa, with each of them on the hospital bed, also the photo of her scar.
Selena said she had the transplant because of complications with the Lupus, which was diagnosed five years ago.
Here is a photo of Selena on the beach where she sees the scar on the leg by the emergency surgery. Geez! Actually France is a very good friend, there are not many people like her. Selena is very lucky to have someone like her. Hopefully all those rumors of drug and alcohol abuse are false, that’s a disappointment knowing that she gave something so valuable and that the person doesn’t appreciate it. SAD!
