Snapchat apologizes for a joke pertaining towards slapping Rihanna

Yeap, as you read, Snapchat pulled a publicity type joke where they asked users whether they preferred to slapping Rihanna or hitting Chris Brown. W-T-F?

As you may remember, Chris Brown gave him a beating of Rihanna in 2009 the night before the Grammy awards, he pleaded guilty to the charges.

According to Dlisted, a few days ago a user of Snapchat, saw the advertisement and posted it on the network, clearly it says “would you Rather!” Slapping Rihanna (pic) or Hitting  Chris Brown (pic). It is advertising a game called ‘Would You rather?’. See it below.

Snapchat took away the advertising, and said in a statement to BBC Newsbeat, sorry.

“The advertising was approved and reviewed for error, as this violates our advertising guidelines. We immediately remove the advertising the past weekend, once we realized. We regret that this ever happened.”

Obviously, NOBODY believes this I’m sorry of Snapchat, especially Rihanna who launched this mini-review to the app via her Instagram stories, and the dragged – reported People.

“Now SNAPCHAT I already know that you’re not my favorite app! But I’m just trying to figure out whats was the point with this disaster! I would love to call it ignorance, but I know that you are so stupid! You spend a lot of money to animate something that brings shame to the victims of Domestic Violence and makes a joke out of that!!! This is not about my personal feelings, because I don’t have many… but all the women, children and men who have been victims of DV in the past and especially those who have not passed… the decepcionaste! What a pity with you. Throw away a well away all that app-lodge.”

Until Chris Brown spoke of that (via his lawyer) with his own words said: “Whoever created this for Snapchat needs to be slapped.”

So, in an attempt to control the damage, Snapchat issued another apology to The Hollywood Reporter:

“This advertising is disgusting and should never have appeared in our service. We are very sorry to have made this mistake you have made go through our review process. We are investigating how that happened and well be able to make sure that it doesn’t happen again.”

I think they tried to make a bad joke, or earn a bit of controversy to make noise. FAIL!
