1 – Extreme diets low in calories will propel weight loss
Although most people think that the less you eat, the more you lose. This is true when you give your body a consistent amount of calories, but if you consume less than your body needs to function, your metabolism will decrease and will cost you more to lose weight.
2 – Having dinner too late leads to weight increase
This tends to be quite false. Although many people have the theory that if you stop eating after certain hours, you start to lose weight. This is not true since your body does not store more fat for the night. You gain weight by what you eat not what time you eat.
3 – Eating small meals several times a day will speed up your metabolism
This is one of the biggest myths of nutrition. Your metabolism will not speed up by eating every 2 or 3 hours, and therefore will not make you lose more weight. The only advantage is that you avoid eating in excess because you don’t expect too much for the next meal. 4 – All calories are created equal
This is a serious error. You should know that your body processes differently to different foods. For example, the 20-30% of calories from protein, 6% from carbohydrates, and 3% of the calories that come from fat are burned during digestion. As the from protein are burned faster, the majority of the calories you consume should be of this type.
